A Fit Dwelling

And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling
in which God lives by his Spirit (Ephesians 2:22).
The Holy Spirit speaks to us at some very unexpected moments. One that I particularly remember was at a Craft Show! A potter was demonstrating how she shaped a beautiful vase from a glob of clay. Carefully, she worked the clay into a lovely shape. After a few minutes, she paused, examined the vase, and abruptly pulled it off the wheel to redo it. She had seen a flaw, a crack, an imperfection.
As I watched this, tears began to flow down my face. I saw myself in that piece of clay. I remembered the patient work of the Holy Spirit in molding and shaping my spiritual life. He often recognized flaws, cracks, and other imperfections, but instead of casting me aside, He lovingly and gently “remolded” and “restored” me to build something useful for His purposes.
Do you feel that others have given up on you? Have you been tempted to give up on yourself? Take heart! The Holy Spirit is constantly working in all of our lives to help us become a fit dwelling for God.
Be patient with me, God has not finished with me yet.
