Courage and Strength

By

Captain Caroline Ramos

Joshua 1: 7-9

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”  (NIV)

When God gave these instructions to Joshua, He knew that Josnua was faithful to Him. He knew that Joshua was the right man for the job.  But God knew his humanity too. He knew that Joshua needed His wisdom and His strength to cope with all the situations ahead of him.  That is why God told him to be courageous, to be strong. How many times we are in front of a situation or a challenge that will take every bit of courage and strength from us to accomplish it.  No one said it was going to be easy, but we know it has to be done.

The difference is in the source of courage and strength.  When we use our own strength and courage, we don’t have the right measure for the job.  But when we depend on the strength and the courage that the Lord gives us, we can accomplish all His plans and at the end the glory will be for Him.  God has a perfect time for everything and in His time everything becomes perfect.  In Him everything is well done, there are no second thoughts or maybes.

I challenge you today to become strong and courageous thru a total dependence in God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in everything that you are going to do today.  You will see the difference at the end of the day.
