“I had lunch by myself again, Mommy!”

By:

Marie Larrinaga

“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you,
Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Psalm 9:10 (NIV)

The farewell phone call was accepted and we were off to our fourth appointment (ministry). This move was going to be difficult for our daughter because if she remained in the same school she was going to skip a grade and graduate in January instead of June. She did not complain.

The first day of school for our son was very exciting. However, my heart broke when I picked up our daughter. She got into the van smiling, “How was your first day at school?” I asked her. “Just great mommy, just great,” she replied. After 17 years I knew all was not great and I questioned her again. A few tears came rolling down her face and in a tearful voice she replied, “Mommy, I had lunch by myself.” We cried together. Then I assured her that she would make friends and all would be fine. A few days later I asked her again and the response was the same. “Lord, why? Are you sure this is right? Please do not allow my children to suffer because of our commitment to You?” These were the questions and doubts that quickly flashed through my mind.

The Lord immediately reminded me that all she had to do was trust in Him and He would give her the peace, friends and joy she was seeking. Once she began to rest and trust in the Lord, she made friends and no long had lunch by herself.

Prayer

Yes! I will rejoice today Lord, because I do know Your name

and I can believe and trust that nothing will happen in

my life if it is not in Your will for me to endure.

Amen
