My Life Source

John 15:5 MSG
"I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you're joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can't produce a thing.
Driving to work this morning I noticed something that had been missing from my part of the country for quite some time; flowers growing in someone’s yard. Then my mind flashed back to a memory long since forgotten. My daughter and our custodian were walking to the Post Office. When she returned she brought me a gift – a flower. The flower that my 6 year old daughter gave me drooped in her hand. She said, “This is for you mommy, isn’t it pretty!” Smiling, I took the bright yellow flower from her tiny hand. I realized how bright it looked in the artificial light of the office. Its beauty was contagious. With a little water it soon began to stand tall and proud. Even with these efforts as the day waned on the flower’s life was fleeting.
Jesus reminded us in John 15:5 that unless we remain in Him we cannot bear fruit. As the flower could not continue without its life source, we cannot continue without our life source, Jesus Christ.
