“One Thing Women”
By

Philippians 3:12-14
It has become a big joke in my household that, with chaos reigning supreme and requests coming at me from all sides, I respond with, “how many things can Mama do at a time?” My entire family answers in unison, “only one thing at a time.” Unfortunately, I am not one of the super moms who can effortlessly multi-task.
It is with great relief that I read passages like the one in Philippians, with the Apostle Paul stating in verse 13 of Chapter 3, “one thing I do.” I am learning that the phrase “one thing” is important to the Christian life. “One thing thou lackest,” said Jesus to the self-righteous rich young ruler (Mark 10:21). “One thing I know!” announced the man who had received his sight by the power of Jesus Christ (John 9:25). “One thing is needed,” Jesus explained to busy Martha (Luke 10:42).
In Psalm 27:4, we find David voicing his single-mindedness. “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His Temple.”
Be a “one thing” woman! Be devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ!

Scripture
Philip. 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. [13] Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, [14] I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
