“Roll up the carpet!”
By:
Marie Larrinaga
“He that trusteth in his riches shall fall:
but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.”
Proverbs 11:28 (NKJ)
That is exactly what happens at camp at the end of the summer. Everything is cleaned and winterized for the next year. The staff will use numerous boxes of the largest size plastic wrap. The wrapping will help keep rodents and other critters away from the items being winterized for the next summer session.
In reminiscing over the ‘rolling up of the carpet’ at camp last summer, I am reminded that in spite of all our precautions, critters and rodents may still get into some. They may even destroy a few.
I store very important items in my life. They are stored where no critter or rodent may destroy them. My treasures are being stored in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:20 - NIV)
All that you and I store here on earth will be destroyed. However, what we have in our treasure chest in heaven cannot be destroyed. They are gems of investments in people’s lives. These investments, I am certain, will not be damaged!
Prayer
Lord, may the treasure I store up today be of value.
May I keep my priorities straight and my treasure
where it is going to do the most good.
Amen
