“They Fix People”

by

Cheryl Miller

Scripture: Mark 1: 40 – 45

“Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him.”  Mark 1:41

We were visiting our son and grandchildren this past Thanksgiving and Kevin was having a talk with his son, Zachary, age 6.  He was trying to help him understand about 911 and emergency people.  Kevin asked Zachary “What do the people in an ambulance do?”  Zachary said, “They fix people.”  What a perfect answer.  He knew of no other way to say it.  His little mind just knew that they fix people.

There are so many portions of scripture that tell us about “Jesus fixing people.”  And I know the Bible does not contain all that He did.  There is just too much.

But in Mark 1 it says “Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him.” (v.41). This is a leper who fell on his knees before Jesus and made his request; “If You are willing, You can make me clean” (v. 40).

Jesus can make you clean right now.  He can touch you today! Jesus fixes people!  That’s His business.  He is still doing that today.  Are you hurt, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually?  Jesus will “fix” you.  Allow Him to do it!

Mark 1:40-45
A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean."

[41] Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!"

[42] Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

[43] Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:

[44] "See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them."

[45] Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
