“Trust Us!”
By:

Marie Larrinaga

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
Psalm 56:3 (NIV)

The phone rings and it’s the school nurse with news that my son was hit by a ball and he is complaining of pain in the ear. When I arrived at the school and talked with the nurse, my motherly instinct told me something was wrong. I took my son home.

After he rested, I questioned him again. He stuck to his story. Four hours later, it was the same. My motherly instinct was now working on overdrive. This time I decided to approach my son with a ‘trust us’ approach. For an 11 year old it was as if I had said, “The strongest and tallest person will be your bodyguard! Papi, you know that you can trust us to protect you from any harm and bullies! We will always try to be there.”

After a few tears my son admitted that someone had hit him and he did not want to get the boy in trouble. My son trusted me to protect him and to be there for him.

You and I also have someone who protects and is always there for us in time of danger and of need. When we are afraid, we can always believe and trust that Jesus will be there for us and with us!

Prayer

Father, today, I want to thank you for

Your promises and for the many ways You gently

reassure me that You are with me.

Amen
