Words to Grow On

Will Somebody Say Amen!

by

Charlene Scheibner

“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1, NIV)

I never fail to be moved as I listen to the testimonies of beneficiaries from the Adult Rehabilitation Center.  Listening to each of their journeys to recovery has meant the world to me.  One, however, I will never forget.  His was undoubtedly the most difficult journey taken.  God allowed his testimony to fall fresh on my heart and the kind of tenderness, compassion and deep passion only true brokenness can bring was evident in his experience.  I can’t even recall the actual hurts and losses that occurred during his journey, but I knew it was real.  And God is good.  I won’t soon forget how God touched my heart that evening.

The thought of fighting our way through life is exhausting whether it is an addiction to drugs or alcohol, living with depression, or just an overwhelming sense of self worthlessness.  Can you think of anything more tiring than waking up to win every single day?

We each have a different road ahead of us, but we all have the same glorious destination.  Our daily goal should be to make Christ a reality in our lives. Now somebody out there should be saying Amen! to that.

Are you excited about your journey with Christ?  Or are you fearful that you are unworthy to receive all that God is waiting to give you?

Begin living your life in the knowledge that you are someone God wants to boast about.
