Tobacco
The Salvation Army recognizes and accepts the scientific evidence that tobacco use is strongly addictive and harmful to health, including the health of those living in a smoking environment. In keeping with its position on other addictive practices and substances, The Salvation Army requires total abstinence from tobacco in all its forms on the part of its soldiers (church members).
The Salvation Army supports efforts to curtail advertising of tobacco products, particularly those intended to appeal to minors.
